Expectation
for
Encounter

We pursue Jesus with a longing for his tangible presence. Prayer and worship are at the heart of what we do because we believe an encounter with Jesus transforms lives.

Unhurried Formation

We are being formed into the image of Jesus over the long, messy journey of life. No quick fixes. No shortcuts. Just a slow, steady trek as we become more like Jesus. We believe this happens best in smaller communities—around tables, during the week, in the ordinary moments.

Friends Eating Dinner

Sacrificial Mission

We are a community empowered by the Holy Spirit and living for the sake of others. We lay down our lives daily for the poor, the broken, and the lost as we point others toward Jesus.

OUR BELIEFS

We hold to historic Christian orthodoxy as stated in the Apostles’ and Nicene creeds. We also join with the recent summaries of Christian doctrine as articulated in the Lausanne Covenant and Cape Town Commitment. These summaries included over 4,000 churches in 198 countries to provide both a summary of Christian faith and a call to action to love God, each other, and the world.

Apostle's Creed The Apostles Creed is the foundational creed for the Church throughout time because of its ancient roots, dating back to the 2nd century. It summarizes the beliefs of orthodox Christianity as it is found across the globe. We are in union with other churches who profess their faith as follows: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Nicene Creed Similarly, the Nicene Creed was developed in the 3rd Century as a foundational statement of belief for the church in the Greco-Roman world: I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic (universal) and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
